Government Affairs Agenda 2012
In accordance with the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce’s Strategic Plan on an ongoing basis the Government Affairs Committee will identify issues and pending legislation that are important and relevant to the business community.
As we work for a more favorable business climate at the municipal, county and state levels, our specific objectives are:
BUSINESS CLIMATE
Work for a more favorable business climate and promote business expansion and development at the federal, state, county and municipal levels.
Support local, county, state and federal initiatives to support the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) and its future.
FISCAL, LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY ISSUES
Monitor the State Budget Process to reduce targeted business and individual income taxes/property taxes in a socially and fiscally responsible manner
Monitor the state budget and other legislative issues and recommend to the Chamber Board positions relative to provisions that may be favorable or unfavorable to Chamber members.
MEMBER RELATIONSHIPS
Help members to enhance their lines of communication with the Christie administration and with elected leaders (federal, state, municipal and local) throughout the state while increasing members’ understanding of the administration’s and the member’s priorities and key initiatives, and the impact of those initiatives on businesses in the short and long term.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OF MEMBERS
Help members understand the impact on their businesses and organizations of major national, state, county and municipal issues such as health care reform, tax changes and the November 2012 elections.
