Government Affairs Agenda 2008

The Burlington County Chamber of Commerce will continue to support the New Jersey State Chamber’s legislative priorities and others that positively affect Burlington County. We will also continue to support initiatives that create a business friendly environment in Burlington County and New Jersey.

The Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee meets monthly to review legislative issues and their impact on the business community. We will continue to inform our members of pertinent legislative issues at the county, state and federal level, and recommend a position of advocacy to the Chamber Board if deemed appropriate. The Committee also develops informational programs to keep our members up-to-date.

In 2003, the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Burlington County Times to host the only 7th District Legislative Candidates Forum to provide an opportunity for both the business person and community as a whole to hear the candidates' points of view. We are committed to continuing this type of service.

We are committed to Business Advocacy. The Chamber’s main objectives include:

  • Accessibility to local, state & federal elected and appointed officials.
  • Providing our members with continual updates on legislative issues and priorities.
  • Making recommendations on selected issues so that the Chamber can provide a voice of advocacy for the business community.
  • Facilitating an understanding of the businesspersons' concerns when interacting with government agencies.
  • Providing our members with information on how to effectively work with government agencies.
  • Providing forums for discussion of issues relevant to the business community.

A Look at 2008….

The Chamber will continue to host our breakfast & lunch forums providing our members with an opportunity to hear first-hand from our elected officials about what’s happening in Burlington County, Trenton and Washington.

Look for Industry relevant roundtables, forums with your local elected and appointed officials, sessions on issues that can effect your businesses bottom line such as Paid Family Leave, educational seminars on how to effectively communicate with your elected officials, and how to do business with the government.

We serve as a resource to our members. We are dedicated to providing our members with multiple points of view on an issue and will continue to do so.
