Mildred & David Gama Scholarship
Each year the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce awards a scholarship to a deserving Burlington County College student in honor of Mildred & David Gama.
Millie Gama served the Chamber for over 27 years as its Executive Director, retiring in 2003. Together, the Gama's gave tirelessly of their time to development a strong Burlington County Chamber of Commerce and increase visibility of the business community.
Purpose: To provide educational opportunities for full time and part time students who have a need for financial assistance and have demonstrated personal commitment to improve Burlington County as a place in which to live and work.
Amount of Award: $500 for full-time students. This amount is prorated for part-time students according to the number of credits in which they are enrolled.
Number of Scholarships: Varies
Application & Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a resident of Burlington County.
- Must have completed a minimum of one semester at Burlington County College, have successfully completed at least six credits during a single semester, be in good academic standing, and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
- Must have a proven record of dedication and personal commitment to the improvement of the quality of life and business in Burlington County.
- Must be involved in extra curricular community-based activities and/or volunteer activities. Letter of recommendation from one such activity is required.
- Should be employed.
- Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must submit copies of college transcripts.
- The recipient does not have to meet federal or state financial aid guidelines in order to qualify for this scholarship.
- Must provide one additional letter of recommendation.
- Must submit a completed Burlington County College Foundation Scholarship Application.
Method of Selection: Screening by the Burlington County College Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee with final selection by the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce. The Burlington County Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to interview recommended candidates after reviewing their credentials.
Method of Payment: The scholarship will be made in the form of a tuition / fee waiver. No cash award will be made to the recipient.
All recipients are selected without regard the race, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability as defined by appropriate laws & regulations.
Burlington County College Students interested in applying for this scholarship should contact the financial aid office. The Burlington County Chamber of Commerce does not accept applications directly for this award. |
